On arrival, in cold and clear weather, breakfast was provided in the form of sausage and bacon sandwiches plus hot drinks, some responded more to this than others. First off we had to be escorted quickly across the runaway then be properly equipped. The shoot took place in 3 cages where we took turns to shoot or miss 8 clays (Yes I know that makes 24 not 25).
After stage 1 we now understood the technique and were happy to have hit some, I was the happiest after hitting the most. Even better this helped put the explorers in front of the adults. By the second stage we were enjoying it even more as we could play dodge the flying pieces of clay when not shooting. A stage 2 improvement left the score very close.
The last and easiest stage gave everyone their highest score 7, the full 8 was elusive. Final standing saw Richard and me tied on 19, Mel and Simon level on 13 and everyone wanting to go again. This was reinforced as some weeks later I received an award for top scoring scout, which was nice.
