In the Week following C.S.C we all arranged to go snowboarding. Those who passed the entry requirements (Turning up at all) were Alex, Rob and Harry who were treated to a snowboarding taster lesson. To determine our snowboard stance I had to fall forward, I was pronounced Goofy.
Our beginning was delayed by the refusal to issue us gloves and wrist pads by the receptionist, when we returned up the slope they eventually found some. After this we began the lesson. Due to my lack of snowboarding experience I lagged behind in some early exercises such as putting on the bindings. However I thought we were all getting on quite well for people fresh to the whole snowboarding scene.
Into the lesson I realised those with more height found it much harder to not fall. Luckily Simon captured all of our falls on camera, to the spectacular back drop of scouts on the ringos, so we can appreciate them at a later date. By the end of the lesson we were all progressing well at our heel turns and developing our toe turns. Not until after did I realise the hard work involved and the sweat produced but at least we know how good snowboarding tastes now.
